There has been an active Open Access movement in Turkey since 2002. Open Access uses digital technology to make research findings widely available. Depositing a copy of their published work in a institutional repository of the universities is one of these technologies. The Council of Higher Education - CoHE has been administrating the activities of the universities in Turkey.
The Major Research Funder in Turkey is The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey - TÜBİTAK. The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey is the leading agency for management, funding and conduct of research in Turkey. TÜBİTAK is responsible for promoting, developing, organizing, conducting and coordinating research and development in line with national targets and priorities.
Anatolian University Libraries Consortium Association - ANKOS is also supporting the Open Access Initiatives and Studies.
TUBITAK Open Science Policy was accepted at the meeting of the TUBITAK Board of Directors on March 14, 2019. It covers publications (peer reviewed articles, etc.) and research data which is produced by TUBITAK support, completely or partially, and the publications and research data of TUBITAK researchers.
